The problem

Many owners of these vehicles have experienced a problem with the heater blower not working properly.
Owners may experience an intermittent heater blower fan, on one or more of the speed settings, or the fan may not work all, or only on full power, or may be stuck on full power.

The cause can be a fault in the electronic control panel, the resistor pack, or the blower motor.
The most common cause however is:

A faulty Heater Resistor.
(otherwise known as the Resistor Pack, Heater Blower Resistor, Motor Speed Control, Hedgehog, Rheostat, Blower Motor Resistor, Dropper Resistor, or just Resistor, or Transistor)

Blower Resistor for Seat Leon
The resistor pack is part of the fan motor assembly, and a new fan from Seat would cost in the region of £100, so it obviously makes sense to try and pin-point the source of the problem.

The cause

If the blower only runs at fast speed.
If the fan runs at fast speed only, this indicates the most likely cause to be that the resistor pack is short circuit.
If the blower is dead.
Assuming the fuse is OK, the cause could be the fan or the resistor pack.
To find out, disconnect the two wires that connect the resistor pack to the fan motor, and apply 12v to the fan input. If your fan runs, then by elimination your resistor pack is at fault.

The solution

You could buy a new Fan with Resistor Pack from Seat, at £100 or so.
If it doesn't fix your problem, that is dead money.
Alternatively, you could get your own Resistor Pack repaired by our expert technicians, who will give you a satisfaction guarantee that lasts for 12 months.
Please note however that there are 2 types, one is repairable, and the other is not.
The repairable type has four silver steel clips fitted.
Please look at the picture and check yours has these clips before sending it to us for repair.
